Free Fireplace Wood
December 04, 2019
Lewis & Clark’s Grounds Crew has been taking out a few dead and unsafe trees, and is splitting the wood into fireplace-sized logs.
The wood is available for staff and faculty to take at their leisure after signing the chain of custody. Once you turn in the form to the Facilities Services office between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., the wood will be first come first serve.
The Facilities Services Building is located on the Undergraduate Campus.
The wood pile is located at the gravel parking lot adjacent to the south end of the graduate school campus (off of SW Palatine Hill Road). Please be thoughtful of others, and consider taking just one car load per person.
The split wood (16”- 18” lengths) that we have available include the following tree species:
- Western Hemlock
- Black Locust
- Western Red cedar
- Red Oak
- Douglas Fir
- Green Ash
Each week we will have split wood from different trees available. For example next Tuesday we will have Black Locust and Maple. Here is a website that we use to show the firewood heating values depending on species.
