Pietrok Named Director of Physical Education and Athletics

Mark Pietrok has been named director of Physical Education and Athletics at Lewis & Clark.

Mark Pietrok has been named director of Physical Education and Athletics at Lewis & Clark, announced Vice President of Student Life Robin Holmes-Sullivan. Pietrok served as the interim director since April of last year and was previously the senior associate director of Physical Education and Athletics, and head athletics trainer. Pietrok has been with Lewis & Clark since 1989.

“I’m so happy that Mark will lead Pioneer athletics in this official capacity,” said Holmes-Sullivan. “Petie—as he is well known—has stepped up so many times during the course of his career to help individual student-athletes, coaches, teams, and everyone who he interacts with. Over the last year and a half, Petie has demonstrated institutional vision and a steady ability to get things done during difficult times. We’re fortunate to have him in this vital role.”

Pietrok earned his Bachelor’s degree and Masters of Education at the University of Portland and also served as the assistant athletics trainer there. His previous experience includes work in minor league baseball and at Wagner College in Staten Island, New York. Pietrok also served as Lewis & Clark’s interim athletics director in 2013-14.

“I have been passionate about Pioneer athletics for a long time,” said Pietrok. I’m committed to leading a staff and program that recruits students who have the potential to be successful both in the classroom, in competition, and beyond. I’m also looking forward to continuing to build relationships with our alumni and friends, fundraising for important projects like the Huston Sports Complex, and ensuring that we are supporting strategic decisions in the best interests of the Lewis & Clark community.”
