Moodle Updates for 2020-21 Academic Year
On August 12, we will extend our monthly maintenance window to upgrade Moodle from 3.7 to version 3.9 for the 2020-21 academic year. We have reserved four hours for the upgrade so please plan accordingly. If this is of concern, please let us know at edtech@lclark.edu.
This update will include new features from both Moodle 3.8 and 3.9. We’ve highlighted a few key features below that will be of interest to our users.
Editing Quick-Access
The “Turn Editing On” button has returned to the top of the screen, giving easier access for teachers and course editors looking to make quick changes.
Activity Chooser
The new activity chooser provides a more dynamic and visual interface when selecting activities and resources to add to your Moodle course. You can now also star frequently used activities for easier access. More information.
Forum Grading Improvements
The addition of whole forum grading provides an alternative to ratings for grading the forum activity. Instructors may now tab through each participant, viewing all of their responses and leave a single grade, similar to the assignments grading interface. More information
Improved H5P Integration
It is now easier to incorporate H5P interactive content in Labels, pages, and books. More information.
Safe Exam Browser
The Safe Exam Browser may be enabled to provide additional security for quizzes administered remotely, setting up access controls for what students may access during quiz attempts. More information.
