Zoom Update - Waiting Rooms or Passwords Now Required

August 06, 2020

As part of ongoing efforts to improve security, Zoom recently announced that beginning on September 27, 2020, all Zoom meetings will require either a Passcode (password) or Waiting Room to be enabled for all licensed accounts. If neither is enabled for your account, Zoom will automatically set the default to waiting rooms.

In anticipation of this change and to minimize the potential for changes to Zoom class sessions once the Fall term is underway, our Lewis & Clark Zoom domain will toggle waiting rooms on by default for all licensed accounts beginning on Monday, August 10th.

While a Zoom meeting is in session, you may toggle waiting rooms by clicking the Security tab and selecting Enable waiting room. You may also change your default Zoom settings by doing the following:

  1. Log into your Zoom account at Zoom.us.
  2. Click Settings in the left sidebar.
  3. The top options in the Security section allow you to toggle Waiting rooms and Passcodes on (blue) or off (gray)
