New Zoom Feature - a built-in video player!

Zoom has added a new feature to help with shared video playback quality and accessibility – a built-in video player!

It’s now easier than ever to share a video clip in your meeting or webinar with Zoom’s new built-in player. Video files on your computer can be opened within the video player and screen shared to other participants. The video player will automatically full-screen the video, and will play back the video without other participants viewing the playback controls. It will also automatically check the “share sound” box in the share screen settings, so you don’t forget to share your video sound.

Additionally, sharing your video with the built-in player, instead of as part of a shared screen or application, improves the quality of shared videos, and provides a smoother and more stable viewing experience for your viewers.

Zoom’s new Video Sharing feature is found in the Share Screen settings, in the Advanced tab.

Here are instructions on how to share your video with Zoom’s built-in player:

  1. Start or join a Zoom meeting.
  2. Click the Share Screen button located in your meeting controls.
  3. Switch to the Advanced tab, and then select Video
  4. Navigate to and select the video you wish to share, then click Open.
  5. The video will now open within Zoom and be visible to attendees.

Note: When using this feature, Optimize for video clip is automatically enabled, which is generally recommended for sharing videos but also restricts and downscales the resolution to 1080/720 to provide improved framerate. This can be manually disabled, which will allow for higher resolution, but this should only be used in situations where framerate is less important.
