One L&C ChamPIOn - Jimmy Chau

We love how Jimmy has tirelessly championed fitness and wellness for employees, which is why we selected him from a list of submissions as the One L&C ChamPIOn for the first week of April!

It has been especially hard for colleges to stay connected during the pandemic, when so much of the college experience is built on the relationships with faculty, staff and students on campus. Lewis & Clark is fortunate to have Jimmy Chau on staff, as Jimmy has been heading a very important method of staying connected - employee fitness! Jimmy is single handedly in charge of employee fitness, arranging for us to have HIIT classes with Coach Joe Bushman and Natasha Richmond, yoga-pilates with Marie-Noelle, and yoga with Lyndsy and Armand. Now he’s even arranged a six-week meditation class for employees with Greg Asbury. We love how Jimmy has tirelessly championed fitness and wellness for employees, which is why we selected him from a list of submissions as the One L&C ChamPIOn for the first week of April! We thank Jimmy for his efforts to build this community, and congratulate him for doing so successfully during the time of remote work. We asked him how this last year has been for him, and his answer sums up why we chose to honor him as a ChamPIOn:

“It’s been a weird combo of hectic and quiet for me during the past year. Focus on our college team and working to give students a safe and memorable experience has been paramount and we’ve done that pretty well given everything we’ve gone through, tennis dome collapse and all! With my wife being pregnant at home, the excursions during Covid have been zero to none, so I’ve had some time to focus on our amazingly awesome ONE L&C group to try and bring Health and Wellness options to our staff/faculty. It hasn’t been easy with the hurdles we’ve had to jump over, but getting to work with some of the most passionate peers has been a refreshing experience and a highlight of the year! As an alum and employee, this campus has given me so much, and giving back to students/staff/faculty is all the motivation I need to continue to build on how great of a community we do have.”
