Balmer Brothers’ Gift Honors Parents

Don Balmer, former U.G. Dubach Professor of Political Science, and his wife, Betty Balmer, were beloved members of the Lewis & Clark community for more than 60 years. Although Don passed away in 2017 and Betty in 2019, they continue to extend their legacy through their sons, Tom, Paul, Andy BS ’79, and Dan BA ’80. The brothers recently made a generous gift of approximately $300,000 from the family estate to the college’s Annual Fund. This fund supports the college’s highest priorities and most critical needs, such as funding scholarships; retaining and recruiting superb faculty; and sustaining innovative academic and student programs.
