Celebrating Dean Emeritus Mark A. Duntley
Dean of Spiritual Life Mark Duntley retired at the end of July of this year, having served the Lewis & Clark community since 1989. In August, Rev. Hilary Martin Himan, a staff person with the Office of Spiritual Life since 2014, was promoted and now serves the Lewis & Clark community as the Chaplain and Director of Spiritual Life.
In his own words, Mark has created ways for students “to explore their own spiritual identity and to grow spiritually by engaging with other human beings in opportunities to help and to be of service, and then to reflect together about those experiences.”
Over the years, Mark led numerous programs, counseled students, staff, and faculty, organized lectures, conducted weddings and memorial services, mobilized employee giving, served on college-wide committees and taught in our Core Curriculum. In May the Board of Trustees appointed him Dean Emeritus of Spiritual Life. The Lewis & Clark community has been deeply touched by his service spanning almost 32 years.
Will you join us in celebrating Mark’s contributions to Lewis & Clark? There are three ways to honor Mark’s many years of service:
