Honoring Rev. Mark A. Duntley’s Many Years of Service

Will you join us in celebrating Mark’s contributions to Lewis & Clark? There are two ways to honor his many years of service.
  • Mark Duntley

Dean of Spiritual Life Mark Duntley plans to retire at the end of July of this year, having served the Lewis & Clark community since 1989. Rev. Hilary Martin Himan, currently a staff person with the Office of Spiritual Life since 2014, will take over as Chaplain and Director of Spiritual Life beginning August 2.

In his own words, Mark has created ways for students “to explore their own spiritual identity and to grow spiritually by engaging with other human beings in opportunities to help and to be of service, and then to reflect together about those experiences.”

Over the years, Mark has led numerous programs, counseled students, staff, and faculty, organized lectures, conducted weddings and memorial services, mobilized employee giving, served on college-wide committees and taught in our Core Curriculum. In May the Board of Trustees appointed him Dean Emeritus of Spiritual Life. The Office of Spiritual Life and the Lewis & Clark community have been deeply touched by his service. This is likely true for many of you as well.
