Jessica Carron Named Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities

Jessica Carron has been named the director of student rights and responsibilities following a national search for the position. Jessica had served as the interim director of Student Rights and Responsibilities since June 1, 2020, with the departure of Charlie Ahlquist who held the role for seven years.

“We could not be happier about Jessica’s selection to serve permanently in the role of Director of SRR,” Vice President for Student Life Robin Holmes-Sullivan said. “She has already proven that she is a thoughtful, socially-justice minded leader who will bring new perspectives and innovations to our approach to student community standards and accountability. We are excited for this new chapter for our community and in supporting Jessica’s vision.”

Prior to her current appointment, Carron served as an area director for Stewart, Akin and Odell Halls where she oversaw 220 first and second year residents and eight RA’s and assisted Ahlquist with student conduct related issues in residential living.

Prior to arriving at Lewis & Clark, Carron worked as a resolution coordinator and hearing officer. She has also worked closely with student leaders to explore the adoption of restorative justice and alternative forms of conflict resolution, addressing the desire of students to create more inclusive, social justice approaches to the student rights and responsibilities process.

“I am excited to figure out new ways we can work with students to resolve conflict and make our campus safer for everyone” Carron said. “My top priorities will be getting students more involved in the conduct process and introducing new conflict resolution methods, including restorative practices, to students and staff at Lewis & Clark.”

Jessica holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and a Master’s degree from Texas Tech University. She is partnered to Luke Sears, has two cats that cost lots of money, and just bought a home in North Portland.
