Jose Curiel Named New Director of Campus Safety

Jose Curiel begins as the Director of Campus Safety at Lewis & Clark College, August 2, 2021. Jose most recently served as the Assistant Director of Public Safety at Linfield University where he was
in charge of Operations for the department and supervised 20 staff, four student employees, and several contract security companies for the University. While at Linfield, he also served as a member of the Linfield University President’s Diversity Advisory Committee, and was active on campus in several diversity and equity related initiatives.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jose and his family to the Lewis & Clark community”, Robin Holmes-Sullivan, Vice President of Student Life said. “He has more than 15 years of experience in the safety and security field, and relevant expertise and lived experience that will make him a huge asset to our community.”

Jose holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Western Oregon University. He and his wife are the proud parents of a beautiful daughter and enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends. In his free time, Jose enjoys reading to his daughter and going on walks with his family.

Prior to Jose being named to the role, Sky Grieg served as the Interim Director of Campus Safety and Lewis & Clark.

“We are eternally grateful for the service and leadership that Sky provided over the academic year. His dedication and commitment to our community is top-notch. He made great strides to improve the department over a short period of time,” Holmes-Sullivan said. Grieg will remain as an officer in the department.
