One L&C Champion - Emily Decker

“I loved working with students during my 30 years in admissions and to now have them all - as alumni - under my umbrella is really a wonderful thing.” - Emily Decker

This month we are honoring our newest L&C Champion, Emily Decker! Emily is not only the Senior Associate Director of Alumni and Parent Programs, she is an alumna of Lewis & Clark College. Hailing from Mound, Minnesota, Emily arrived at Lewis & Clark to be part of the Pio class of 1985 and never left. After graduating, Emily joined Lewis & Clark’s Undergraduate Admissions staff, traveling all over the country meeting prospective students and sharing her experiences as an alumna. In 2015 she transitioned to the Alumni and Parent Program office.

“Throughout my career at L&C our students have always been my biggest motivator. They continue to inspire and energize our entire community each and every day. I loved working with students during my 30 years in admissions and to now have them all - as alumni - under my umbrella is really a wonderful thing. Through my work with our alumni, I am constantly reminded of the incredible impact a Lewis & Clark education has on our students. I consider myself fortunate to have been part of this journey.”

Laura Mundt, who nominated Emily, sings her praises! Emily has spent her entire career at LC, following her time as a student. She spent the first ~20 years in the Admissions Office and then moved over to the Alumni Office. No one is a better proponent of LC than Emily!”

Emily remains undaunted after the pandemic. “The last year and a half have been challenging in many ways. From the beginning of the pandemic, I have been proud of our entire college community for our collective response and togetherness during a very stressful time. Through the many layers, we were able to move forward and succeed. I’m particularly proud of our Alumni and Parent Programs team for doing a huge pivot and finding ways to keep thousands of alumni and parents engaged through virtual programming. We learned a lot and are better because of the experience.”

Congratulations Emily Decker on being a Champion!
