College Outdoors Re-Opening Plans starting Jan. 18th, 2022

Updated: 1/14/22
Please check back on this page for updated changes. Currently we are planning to run trips well before in-person classes resume on Feb. 7th, but that could change.

  • Scheduled trips will occur as planned Jan. 18th - Feb. 6th, including Cross-Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, Hiking, and Backpacking. See the Trip Calendar for trip options and details.
  • All Participants & Leaders must have completed the LC-administered re-entry testing for Covid-19, and received a negative result. It can take 3 days or more to receive your results, so in order to participate in trips on a given weekend, you must test no later than Tuesday of that week. For example, if you plan to participate in Mt Hood Snowshoe 1a on Saturday, Jan. 29th, you would need to have tested with LC no later than Tuesday, Jan. 25th. Earlier LC testing, including in January any time prior to the beginning of the semester, is fine.
  • KN95 masks (or KF94, or N95) must be worn at all times when indoors or inside vehicles. This means that snacks and beverages cannot be consumed while riding in the vans, only during stops.
  • To register, call 503-475-6796 during business hours. College Outdoors Operations Manager Kori Rosenstiel will take your registration and payment over the phone. If no answer, call College Outdoors Director Joe Yuska at 503-880-5387 instead. Be sure to review the Release of Liability Waiver before paying, you will be asked to sign it before your trip.
  • All trips currently open for registration are first-paid, first-served. Visit the trip page to learn when registration opens for each trip. Trips posted for registration on Friday, Feb. 11th will resume the normal process of providing the option to hold a spot 3 business days by writing your name on the sign-up sheet (see below for more info on how things will work after Feb. 7th)
  • If you have already paid for a trip Jan. 18 - Feb. 6th but will no longer be able to attend, email outdoors@lclark.edu, and we’ll let you know how to receive a full refund. For these early-semester trips, full refunds are available to anyone who notifies us prior to the trip’s scheduled pre-trip meeting (PTM), to anyone who is in isolation/quarantine for Covid-19, and (per our normal cancelation policy), anyone with a documented medical emergency.

Spring Break

  • Registration opens for Spring Break trips at 9am on Friday, Jan. 28th. To register, call 503-475-6796. College Outdoors Operations Manager Kori Rosenstiel will take your registration and payment over the phone.
  • Pre-registration is open now to anyone enrolled in PE/A 101: Outdoor Adventures. To receive the one activity credit for the class, you must register through WebAdvisor before the end of add-drop, AND you must sign up and pay for a Spring Break trip. Some spring break trips fill fast, so be sure to sign up for your trip before it opens to the general student body on Jan. 28th. Email Joe Yuska at yuska@lclark.edu for more info, and to get permission to register in WebAdvisor.

Beginning Monday, Feb. 7th: We’ve Moved!

  • With Templeton under construction, the College Outdoors offices and trip-sign up locations have moved!
  • Beginning Feb. 7th, trip registrations will occur in East Hall, across from Maggie’s cafe in the foyer outside the office of the Vice President of Student Life.
  • The trip sign-up board is available whenever East Hall is open, typically 8am - 6pm daily.
  • Registration and payment is accepted when the College Outdoors desk is staffed: Monday - Friday from 11:30am-1:30pm & 4pm-6pm,.
  • The normal trip registration process will resume: New trips are posted at 11:30am Fridays. By adding your name to the paper sign-up sheet, you can hold a space on the trip without paying from the time the trip is posted until the following Tuesday at 5pm. After that time, the trip becomes first-paid, first-served.
