One L&C Champion: Amanda Wilson

In 2012, Amanda started at L&C and has now celebrated ten years of service to the college.

Originally from Sacramento, our November Champion, Amanda Wilson, has lived all over California and made the leap to Portland in 2001 to be with her wife. A true renaissance woman, Amanda worked a wide variety of jobs before deciding to study landscape technology. In 2012, Amanda started at L&C and has now celebrated ten years of service to the college.

Amanda loves to travel and has had the opportunity to volunteer, helping to restore chateaus in Southern France, using the gardening skills honed here at L&C. She included this quote as part of her love of adventure:

“The Road goes ever on and on

Down from the door where it began.

Now far ahead the Road has gone,

And I must follow, if I can,

Pursuing it with eager feet,

Until it joins some larger way

Where many paths and errands meet.

And whither then? I cannot say”

J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

Amanda and her wife live with three cats in SE Portland and enjoy entertaining, good food, camping and hanging out with friends. College staff are also aware that Amanda is a DJ who has graced us with her skills many times for staff gatherings. Her nominators from the L&C community say; “Amanda is a joyful person to know too – she has so many hidden talents!”, “…she goes the extra mile for students…” and “She makes our campus look so beautiful and she never is too busy to stop to chat with you.”

Congratulations Amanda on being a Champion!
