Visitors met staff from the President’s Office (including the president herself), the Chief-of-Staff’s Office, the Office of Institutional Research and Planning, the Business and Finance Office, and the CAS Admissions Office while enjoying snacks and touring the building.

Staff in the Manor House were especially excited to have so many students come through. With the exception of CAS Admissions, staff who work in the Manor House offices are often “behind the scenes” and unknown by students.

“One reason for hosting the open house was to encourage everyone across campus to engage with the administrators who work these offices,” AVP for Institutional Research and Planning Renée Orlick said. “In particular, the staff and administrators in the building wanted students to know that they care and that the work they do helps support students. It was great to have a chance to show students our role on campus and share with them the ways we can (and do) support their endeavors in and out of the classroom.”

Raffle prizes were awarded to six CAS faculty/staff, one graduate school faculty staff, one law school faculty/staff, three common services staff, four CAS students, and one graduate student.

About 60% of attendees entered the raffle which required visiting the various offices in the building and getting a stamp to show they stopped in. Of the 93 people who entered the raffle, 16 won prizes (that’s better than a one-in-six chance of winning!). Winners will be contacted by email and can pick their prizes up at the Manor House.

But wait, there’s more!

The Office of Business and Finance also had a sign up sheet for three upcoming training opportunities. Thirty people signed up for one (or more) of the following:

  1. Overview of the College Operating Budget Planning Processes and Intro to Webadvisor
  2. P-card program overview
  3. Expense Reimbursement and Travel and Entertainment expense report processes
