Law professor recognized as one of the Northwest’s “Exceptional Women”

Law professor Maggie Finnerty, a passionate advocate for local entrepreneurs, appeared on the radio program Exceptional Women Northwest.

Clinical Law Professor Maggie Finnerty, a passionate advocate for local entrepreneurs, recently appeared on the radio program Exceptional Women Northwest. The program, which features the achievements of women who make a positive impact in the Pacific Northwest, highlighted Finnerty’s work as executive director of Lewis & Clark Law School’s Small Business Legal Clinic.

In the interview, Finnerty said that what she finds most rewarding about her work with the SBLC is that it serves dual needs: it offers valuable practical experience in business law to Lewis & Clark students who would otherwise have difficulty getting hands-on experience, while providing vital legal advice to low-income small businesses in the Portland area.

Finnerty’s passion for entrepreneurship and teaching has led her along an interesting path to her success with the SBLC. She discussed her diverse personal and professional experiences—from practicing business transactional law at Stoel Rives in Portland to becoming a certified snowboarding instructor.
