Analysis: New bridge will cost billions more in long-term

PEAC requested documents used by economist’s study of the proposed mega-bridge.

Requests for information under the federal Freedom of Information Act
(“FOIA”) and state open records laws are an important tool for PEAC lawyers.
But sometimes it takes awhile to get the “payoff” for all of the work
involved in drafting the requests, negotiating with the agency over what
actually needs to be produced and sifting through all of the documents the
agency finally supplies. PEAC requested the documents that a Portland-based
economist, Joe Cortright, ended up using for this important study in 2009.
We appreciate Joe’s acknowledgment of our work in this piece in The Columbian related to the proposed new mega-bridge between Oregon and Washington.
