Women’s Soccer

The Pioneers finished the season with eight shutouts in 20 games, the best campaign in program history. At season’s end, Lewis & Clark was ranked fourth in the Northwest Conference in fewest goals allowed over the season, holding their opponents to an average of 1.40 goals a game.

First-year goalkeeper Elise Delgado had a spectacular season, leading the conference in saves with 112 for the season. Senior defender Liska Havel was named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America District VIII Second-Team, which honors student-athletes for their academic and athletic success. Only 11 soccer players from colleges throughout the nation are picked for the first and second teams.

Volleyball

For the second consecutive season, the Pioneer volleyball team finished third in the Northwest Conference, ending the season 14-11 overall and 10-6 in the conference. The Pioneers closed out their season with a thriller against the Pacific Lutheran Lutes, who were ranked 15th in the nation. The Pios gave the Lutes a run for their money, nearly pulling out an upset victory in five sets.

Football

In an action-packed Homecoming game on October 24, the Pioneers picked up their first home win in five years against Crown College, defeating the Storm 57-35 in front of 2,000 screaming fans.

Senior kicker Andrew Foote set a new school record in field goals made in a single game, with five. Junior quarterback Tucker Laurence ran for 219 yards, breaking the college’s single-game record for rushing yards by a quarterback.
