Gerald Fischer ’68
Dr. Gerald Fischer is a pediatrician, specializing in infectious diseases. He graduated from Lewis & Clark College and the University of Oregon Medical School in Portland, Oregon. He spent 17 of his 23 years in the U.S. Army at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland where he remains a Professor (Adjunct) in the Department of Pediatrics. He retired from the Army as a colonel in 1993. Dr. Fischer has served as CEO of two Maryland biotech companies and remains active in the industry as CEO and Chairman of Longhorn Vaccines and Diagnostics, LLC. He continues to work with the military and other organizations in the area of infectious diseases and global health.
