Alexandra Hackbarth

Alex Hackbarth BA ’09 returned to the States in June 2019 after nearly two years in Afghanistan, where she was special advisor to the special inspector general for Afghanistan Reconstruction. While in Kabul, Hackbarth learned about the devastation the country’s multiyear drought had on the Afghan population and the threat it posed to U.S. national security interests. She now works in climate security.
