David L. Thayer BS ʼ52, April 2, 2020, age 90. Thayer spent 42 years designing and advising on lighting for hundreds of productions at the University of Iowa. His work enhanced performances of theatre, opera, and dance and was seen in world premieres of more than 20 plays, 100 dances, and 150 other productions. Thayer was also instrumental in the founding of the U.S. Institute for Theatre Technology. His career and writing had a tremendous influence on the technology and art of theatre lighting design.
