Less than two hours west of Portland lies Fort Stevens State Park, a gorgeous destination of ocean beaches, coastal temperate rain forests, lakes, and wetlands which make it the perfect place for days of kayaking and hiking.
We’ll explore some peaceful stretches of coastal lakes where you can see great blue heron, bald eagles, and even otter. No kayaking experience is necessary - we’ll teach you everything you need to know! On land, we’ll explore the hiking trails, fascinating history of the park, hike on wild Pacific Ocean beaches, and maybe even play a round of disk golf. At night we’ll stay in cozy yurts or cabins, or sleep solo in a tent.
This trip was originally to be based at Champoeg State Park, but we couldn’t obtain enough cabin or yurt reservations there- the detailed trip description covers the original plan at Champoeg.
