Helen Guyton is a SOAN major with Environmental Studies and Japanese minors! She was born in the United States, and has lived in Japan, Germany, and the United Kingdom. She considers Germany to be home, as she has lived there the longest. Here’s what she has to say about learning about her TCK identity: “Prior to learning about the term TCK, I always knew that I had been raised in a non-conventional way because my family moved around so much. I don’t think that the term changed the way that I view myself, but rather gave me a digestible way to describe my identity to others. It has also helped me to find TCK communities and peer support!” She believes her open-mindedness, curiosity, and love of languages have come from her TCK experience. And she would love to move back to Europe after graduating from LC!
