Sarah Supahan BS ’81

Sarah Supahan BS ’81 remarried in 2006 to Mike Harding. Together, they have 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, including a motley crew of biological, step, and foster kids who identify as Native, Native-Black, Vietnamese, Mexican-Filipino, and white. Her career in education spans 32 years and includes several different positions. She began as a substitute teacher, moved on to Indian education director, served as a superintendent or superintendent/principal of several small rural school districts, and worked as deputy superintendent of the Trinity County Office of Education. Supahan was appointed Trinity County superintendent of schools in June 2017 and was elected to the position in June 2018 for a four-year term. She plans to retire by the end of December 2022 when her term ends.
