Robert Phillips BA ’72, MAT ’86 worked as an elementary school teacher, first in Oregon City and then in North Clackamas. He taught science at Wilbur Rowe Middle School and then became a science teacher on special assignment for the Clackamas Education Service District. After that, he returned to the North Clackamas district, where he taught at both the elementary and junior high levels. After retiring in 2002, Phillips began volunteering with the Oregon Symphony. He is currently a docent for elementary programs, working with Kinderconcert performances and Prelude groups at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. In addition, Phillips has volunteered with Portland Mountain Rescue, serving as both a board member and president. He is currently a board member of the Rhododendron Water Association and has a cabin in the area. In the past, he was a climber, hiker, skier, biker, and whitewater rafter, but he now focuses on being a sailor.
