John L. Newell

John L. Newell BA ’51, April 2, 2021, age 94. Newell was a member of the 1950 Pioneers football team and was inducted into the Lewis & Clark Sports Hall of Fame. In the 1960s, Newell began farming. In 1975, he cofounded Willamette Hazelnut Growers. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Elesa; his children, John, Nancy, and Paul; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
