Mel Knight BM ’59, MM ’65, August 24, 2021, age 86. Knight worked as a band teacher at several Oregon schools. He also arranged jazz ensembles and sang barbershop quartet. By 1981, Knight had transitioned to directing choral music, with his chorus in Eugene, Oregon, placing internationally. He retired from his position of director of music education in 1993. Survivors include his children, Erin, Tracy, and Cory; four grandchildren; and a brother.
