Assistant Professor

Dr. Ratanashevorn serves as a core faculty for the Professional Mental Health Counseling Program and teaches the Research Methods in Counseling and Group Counseling for Adults classes. He has committed to social justice and advocacy for marginalized communities by participating in and contributed to local and regional events that support the LGBTIQ+ community, both in Thailand and the U.S. He has facilitated training sessions and workshops on LGBTQ+ cultural competence as well as conducted research, delivered conference presentations, and published journal article targeting marginalized communities (LGBTIQ+ and Asian international students) in the pursuit of equity. His teaching and scholarly interests include LGBTQ+ cultural competency, LGBTQ+ mental health and interventions, cultural humility, intersectionality, college counseling, trauma-informed therapy, existential humanistic therapy, qualitative research, constructivist grounded theory and group counseling. His clinical experience includes working with adults and young adults, mainly in the college setting over the past decade.

Dr. Ratanashevorn has been awarded the Ralph F. Berdie Memorial Research Award by the American Counseling Association in 2024 as well as the Multicultural Assessment & Research in Counseling Student Grant Award by the Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling in 2023.
