Lindokuhle Simelane

UWC attended: Waterford Kamhlaba United World College of Southern Africa (Swaziland)
Class Year: Class of 2016

My name is Lindokuhle Simelane, and I am from the Kingdom of Swaziland, in southern Africa. I was born and raised in Swaziland. For my secondary education I was enrolled at Waterford Kamhlaba UWCSA and what I enjoyed most from my experiences there were the culture mixes. Every now and again you learnt something new and intriguing about a certain culture.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy sports, both playing and watching. Soccer is my first love and I support Chelsea Football Club. I enjoy tennis and field hockey, as well. Some of my academics interests include Economics, Biology, History and French. I fell in love with French as soon as I started learning it, nearly 6 years ago.  I caught on very quickly and that was when I discovered that I could be quite the linguist. I like learning new languages; it’s something that I’ve always enjoyed, even as a young girl.

One of the first things I heard about Lewis & Clark was that it is a beautiful school, and that is what sparked my interest in the school. As I read and learned more about the college, it was the community service activities, as well as the excellent study abroad and Economics programs that drew me in. After that, there was no turning back. I”˜m most likely to major in Economics, as it is a field that I am very interested in and also one of the strongest programs offered at Lewis & Clark.

In my next four years at Lewis & Clark, I hope to achieve the personal and academic goals that I have set for myself, including gaining the necessary expertise to one day be the great economist that I aspire to be.
