Josh Walter

Vice President for Advancement

A sixth-generation Oregonian, Josh was named Vice-President for Advancement at Lewis & Clark in 2016 after rising through the development ranks at Claremont McKenna College, where he was an integral part of the largest campaign in liberal arts history, raising $635 million.

Josh grew up in the Pacific Northwest, primarily in Mukilteo, Washington, while spending time on his family’s tree farm in Scio, Oregon. Recruited to play football at Claremont McKenna College, Josh was able to attend CMC with the help of a scholarship and remains forever grateful to the donors whose generosity made that possible. A fully engaged student-athlete, he played football and rugby, was a member of the Army ROTC program, and participated in student government. Earning a bachelor’s degree in government and psychology, he was commissioned and served as an ordnance officer in the United States Army, stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Following his service, he began his fundraising career in the CMC advancement office.

Josh is married to his college sweetheart, Marisa, and together they have two children, Kannon and Chase. The family enjoys going on adventures throughout the world and hosting friends from all corners of the globe, treating them to the beauty and culture of Portland and the Pacific Northwest they proudly call home.
