The Resource Lab is a high-end multimedia development lab that open to anyone in the Lewis & Clark community. Located on the first floor of Watzek library, next to the Service Desk, the lab provides powerful computers with a comprehensive list of current software and operating systems to help you produce video, audio, multimedia projects, and high-quality prints and posters. Additionally, two editing suites are also available 24 hours a day to work on your projects with more privacy. You may reserve project time in 4 hour blocks.
Epson Expression 10000 XL - With a 11x17” glass, this scanner will make large posters easy.
Epson Perfection V700 - This scanner is the fastest around—Also scans batches of slides and negatives.
Epson Perfection 3170 - Need to scan a pile of documents? What are you waiting for—we’ve got an automatic document feeder!
Nikon SuperCoolscan 5000 - It’s in the name. It makes super-cool-scans of 35mm negatives. Sorry, nothing for daguerreotypes.
Don’t Have a Paper Copy? If you don’t have your picture anymore, or took some slide photos on a trip to another country, don’t panic - our scanners still have you covered. Just ask for the right holder (35mm negatives, standard sized slides, and medium format film) to capture your image.
Never Scanned Before? Don’t worry - lab assistants are always around to help you. After walking you through the steps a few times, you’ll be able to scan with no problems.
Whether you want to scan an old poster to print a new one, make a .pdf document, or just email a picture to a friend, our scanners can do the job.
Digital Editing Suites
The digital editing suites are a place to play with your video footage. Importing can be done from mini DV, flash memory camera, and many other sources. Using Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro, you can edit together your pieces, add music from Garage Band and create a masterpiece!
All the suites require booking in advance. Call or stop by the IT Service Desk to reserve a time that is convenient for you. Editing suites may be reserved for use anytime the library is open (nearly 24 hours a day).
Passport Photos are available Monday - Friday from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm [not available during summer]
Requests submitted to the Resource Lab for printing by campus departments and student organizations will be charged a $25 service charge for each job (25 items or less) in addition to the cost of the actual printing.
Once all the hard work is done, it’s nice to take it home with you to show friends where you’ve been and how talented you are. All of our Mac Pro computers can burn Blu-Ray discs, DVDs or CDs quickly and easily. If you’ve borrowed a home-made DVD, it’s equally simple to make a copy before giving it back to your friend.
Please be aware that the Rlab will facilitate the creation of CDs and DVDs but not actually produce the content for clients. Clients will be responsible for the content, including securing copyright permission if needed. The Rlab does not provide CDs or DVDs; they can be purchased at the bookstore.
