What three words would you use to describe L&C?

Academically rigorous, beautiful, just the right size

What was your favorite class? How did it expand your knowledge?

Introduction to Psychology with Professor William Cole. It barely scraped the surface of psychology, but it was such an amazing course. I love it when professors are real with their students and teach them to think critically, especially when they bring up controversial ideas that force you to step outside of your comfort zone—where learning and dreams go to die. Psychology taught me more than ever to consider someone else’s point of view, and how to go about life.

What made you want to come to Lewis & Clark?

Coming from a small town and even smaller high school, I thought L&C would be a perfect fit. I enjoy the close-knit family feel and having the support of my professors.

Why did you choose to do the Xplore program?

I was advised to apply for a New Student Trip with College Outdoors to make friends before starting college. Xplore was offered as an alternative, and when I saw the program’s focus was STEM, I applied immediately because it is my passion.

Have you had the opportunity to do research with a professor? What did you learn from that experience?

I got the opportunity to do research in the neuroscience lab with Professor Todd Watson. I learned a lot about how to communicate research to participants and the outside community. Educating and communicating with folks about your research is probably one of the most difficult things to do.
