Notices for Publications

The Office of Communications ensures that all publications it produces include the applicable copyright, nondiscrimination, and recycled content/printing practices notices. If you are undertaking your own project on behalf of Lewis & Clark, please read the information below.

For book-length projects, include a copyright notice.

Nondiscrimination Statement

All publications done on behalf of Lewis & Clark or any portion thereof should include a nondiscrimination statement. For most purposes, the standard form shown here works best.

Standard form (updated 6/10/22):

Lewis & Clark does not discriminate with respect to educational programs, activities, employment, and admission. We do not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, ethnicity, sex, religion, age, marital status, national origin, the presence of any physical or sensory disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or any other basis prohibited by applicable federal, state, and local laws. For more information, and for current contact information for questions or concerns, go to go.lclark.edu/nondiscrimination.

If your publication is very brief, such as postcard or poster, you may need to resort to the short form.

Short form (updated 9/5/19):

Lewis & Clark follows the letter and spirit of all equal opportunity and civil rights laws.

Nondiscrimination Statement for Official Notices

When the publication constitutes an official notice, you should use the long form of Lewis & Clark’s nondiscrimination statement. Application sites (whether for admission or employment) and the Clery report are examples of publications that require the long form. For questions about when to use the long form, please contact the Office of the Vice President, General Counsel, Chief of Staff, and Board Secretary.
