Overview

At one time or another, many students feel overwhelmed by the stress of academics, work, family, or relationships. Student Counseling Center staff are available to help students cope with these and other stressors. About 15% of Lewis & Clark students (25% of undergraduates) visit the Student Counseling Center each year.

Student Counseling Center staff are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of all L&C students—undergraduate, law, and graduate (GSEC). We offer primarily short-term individual, couples, and group therapy, as well as crisis counseling and some psychiatry services. Our staff consists of licensed mental health clinicians.

Student Counseling Center Events

April 25: 5:30pm - 6:30pm

The Let Out - A Space for BIPOC Students

The Let Out - A space where you can gather with people like yourself and “let out”.  A safe space for BIPOC students to talk about everyday stressors at college and beyond. Sponsored by the Student Counseling Center.

Student Counseling Center Statement on Racism and Oppression

Events in recent years have raised the national awareness about the brutal treatment and violence directed toward Black people and other people of color in the United States. These events have also, once again, highlighted the racial inequities and cultural injustice in America. Student Counseling Center staff are committed to supporting Black students, Asian and Pacific Islander students, other students of color, and their allies related to the stresses of these times, and to creating a more just, equitable world.

Statement of Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Student Counseling Center staff are committed to providing a safe environment for all by recognizing the unique identities of our diverse Lewis & Clark community. It is part of our professional ethics and personal values to promote inclusion and to be aware of the impact of privilege, prejudice, marginalization and discrimination in the lives of individuals. We strive to create an atmosphere where we foster dialogue and promote actions that respect and honor all persons. We believe that sharing and supporting varying perspectives facilitates connection, health, and wellness.
