To better prepare for a potential earthquake, all LC community members are invited to participate in the Great Oregon ShakeOut, an annual drill designed to raise awareness about earthquake safety and preparedness. This year, the ShakeOut will occur on October 19 at 10:19 am.
At precisely 10:19 am, all Lewis & Clark community members will receive the following message:
Urgent LC Alert: *** THIS IS A TEST *** An earthquake is impacting the campus. DROP, COVER & HOLD
Upon receiving this message, we strongly encourage all community members to practice the DROP, COVER & HOLD procedure by taking shelter under a desk or finding the nearest safe location. This practice is crucial for becoming familiar with safety measures and ensuring your desk, classroom, or residence is ready. While it may seem routine, remember that preparedness can make all the difference.
At 10:21 am, all Lewis & Clark community members will receive the following message:
Urgent LC Alert: All clear. The safety drill is complete.
For more information about the earthquake risk and how to prepare, please visit https://www.lclark.edu/offices/emergency/cascadia-earthquake/.
