Video Production Opportunities for Lewis & Clark Students
There are several paid and unpaid opportunities on campus for students interested in video production. To search for current job openings, go to Human Resources.
The following list gives an overview of campus departments and offices that need students to produce video for multiple purposes.
Location: Manor House
Students are hired yearly to create blogs about their experience at Lewis & Clark through written entries, photos, and videos. Bloggers are required to update their blogs each week, giving a regular sense of their college experience. Bloggers are also encouraged to plan and schedule Instagram takeovers on the Lewis & Clark College Instagram account.
The role of donor relations and stewardship is to enhance and deepen long-term, collaborative relationships with donors to the institution and to provide direct connections between a donor’s personal philanthropy and the mission, vision, and principles of the college. The Advancement department hires students to produce short stewardship videos to send to donors on the ThankView platform to encourage and inspire lifetime support of the institution, to recognize donors in meaningful ways, and to involve donors in the results of their giving.

The Athletics department hires students to produce multimedia content to promote student-athletes, build fanbase, improve gameday experience, and gain attention for programs. Athletics video content appears on LCPioneers.com, L&C PioStream, and the L&C Pioneers social media channels.

Educational Technology is part of Information Technology (IT). The EdTech team regularly hires students to assist in a wide variety of instructional projects that involve recording, producing, and sharing video in a variety of formats. The team regularly consults and advises on complex video production, hosting, and sharing to support instruction, curricular projects, research, performances, and other academic work. Training and specialized equipment is provided as needed. The team also regularly works with faculty, students, and departments to design and deliver digital skills workshops and ensure student access and training to necessary equipment.

Events A/V Services hires students to record and edit professional lectures, conferences, symposiums, outdoor events, large scale music performances, and other campus events. This office also edits zoom recordings, creates short videos for events and conferences, and handles project-based video editing and post production work, video manipulation, and image extraction.

The Information Technology (IT) Service Desk regularly hires students who have the opportunity to learn how to use and troubleshoot Audio/Visual equipment available in the check-out pool, create award-winning communication and promotional content, and develop technical skills required to support the Resource Lab and editing suites. The Service Desk also maintains an equipment check-out pool that has a variety of A/V equipment that can be used for basic video projection needs. Access to specialized equipment used by curricular classes is available by department or instructor permission.

The Bates Center programming is designed to add experiential opportunities to the college experience. The center sponsors paid opportunities to create storytelling content for its website and for social media. Further, students in the program’s internship class Innovation at Work (ELI 349) may be connected (after interview and hiring) to paid off campus internships for video production and content creation. The center leverages its location in a world-class, progressive and collaborative city to bring leaders onto campus to discuss their industry, trends, and opportunities.

Known around campus as PubCom, Public Affairs and Communications is an award-winning team of marketing, public relations, design, media, and communications professionals who love to share the news and stories that make Lewis & Clark great. As a common services office, PubCom is a resource for all three Lewis & Clark schools. PubCom hires student video production assistants to create marketing content in-house. The Resource Lab is part of Information Technology (IT). It is a high-end multimedia development lab that is open to anyone in the Lewis & Clark community. They offer a vast array of current software and specialized recording equipment designed to produce video, audio, multimedia projects, and high-quality prints and posters. Two editing suites are available 24 hours a day to work on your projects with more privacy. You may reserve project time in 4-hour blocks.

Rhetoric and Media Studies (RHMS) was one of the first programs in the country to offer a major that integrates training in film/television studies with training in media and rhetorical analysis. RHMS majors are an inclusive community that work collaboratively on a challenging curriculum, innovative research, and on applying the things we learn across campus and beyond. RHMS students intern and volunteer in Portland, take their skills into campus activities, and showcase their work at regional and national conferences and festivals.
