‘Washington Monthly’ Ranks L&C No. 1 in Service

Washington Monthly has ranked L&C in the top third of national liberal arts colleges, as well as No. 1 in service and No. 27 in research. The magazine ranks four-year institutions based on their contribution to the public good.

This fall, Washington Monthly ranked Lewis & Clark No. 65 out of 199 liberal arts colleges in the nation on its 2023 list. According to the publication’s website, the ratings are “based on [each institution’s] contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research, and providing opportunities for public service.”

Lewis & Clark also ranked No. 1 in service and No. 27 in research among U.S. liberal arts colleges. In terms of its overall ranking among liberal arts institutions in the Pacific Northwest, L&C finished ahead of the University of Puget Sound, Whitman College, Willamette University, and Reed College.
