Environmental and Natural Resources Law

Welcome!

Lewis & Clark Law School is an extraordinary place in which to study environmental law, natural resources law, and animal law. Named the No. 1 environmental law program in the nation by U.S. News and World Report eight times since 1997, our academic program also was the first in the nation to receive the American Bar Association Award for Distinguished Achievement in Environmental Law. During the 2009-10 academic year we will be celebrating our 39th year of educational leadership in environmental and natural resources law.

We welcome you to explore our trail-blazing environmental law program and to visit our beautiful campus. The sidebar on the right connects you with the many facets of our program.

Clean Air and Climate Change

Our annual national environmental law forum, The Clean Air Act at the Crossroads: Turning 40, Confronting Climate Change, will bring national experts to campus April 22-23, 2010. In keeping with our reputation for problem-solving conferences on cutting-edge topics, forum speakers will look for creative solutions to current air quality and climate change issues.

Summer School 2010

Autumn leaves stand out in bright colors against forest evergreens.  Maple seed "helicopters" twirl in the air in Tryon Creek State Park.  Flocks of geese honk to each other on their migration south.  It's time to think about summer school!  We're planning a wonderful lineup of five-week and two-week courses for law students, lawyers and agency professionals.  This summer will see the return of the popular one-week Legal Ecology: Ecosystems and the Law field class taught in biodiversity-rich southeastern Oregon.  We'll have new two-week intensive classes in Comparative Environmental Law and Climate Change, as well as Natural Resources Law, Wetlands Law and a full lineup of Animal Law courses.  We also offer an Indian Law Summer Program and a host of upper division law courses throughout the summer.  Join us!
