Professor Samir Parikh Awarded Bankruptcy Fellowship

Professor Samir Parikh awarded prestigious fellowship for article on bankruptcy venue choice

Professor Samir Parikh has been awarded the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges Fellowship for 2012. The fellowship is awarded annually in September and recognizes an outstanding bankruptcy scholar based on scholarship published at some point during the preceding 12 months. The recipient is selected by a panel of federal bankruptcy judges.

Parikh is the only recipient of the award for 2012. As the recipient of this award, he has been invited to attend the NCBJ annual conference in San Diego from October 24th - 27th to discuss his paper, An Empirical Analysis of Modern Forum Shopping in Bankruptcy and Solutions to the Venue Market Failure, along with other leading jurists, practitioners, and academics in the field.

Conference speakers include Justice Stevens, Professor Douglas Baird (University of Chicago Law School), Professor Jay Westbrook (University of Texas School of Law), Lawrence Summers (Harvard), Steven Rattner (former head of the Automotive Task Force), Hon. Arthur Gonzalez, Hon. R. Guy Cole, Jr., and Professor Alan Resnick (Hofstra School of Law), among others.
