GEI Externships Available for 2015 Summer and Fall Semesters

The Green Energy Institute is currently accepting applications for full-time summer and fall externs.

The Green Energy Institute is accepting applications for full-time summer and fall externs. GEI develops and advocates for effective policies to advance renewable energy. Our mission is to facilitate a swift transition to a sustainable, 100% renewable power grid.

Externs will work on a set of ongoing projects aimed at promoting renewable energy development and phasing out the use of fossil fuels in the electricity sector. Externs will conduct research, prepare legal memoranda, and write policy proposals. Externs will also participate in weekly staff meetings and will likely participate in other meetings with stakeholders in the energy community. Externs may also participate in ongoing proceedings before the Oregon Public Utilities Commission.

GEI is particularly interested in full-time externs. Students may combine PILP-funded work with the externship if they receive PILP funding. Otherwise, students will earn academic credit consistent with the law school’s externship program requirements.

Eligible applicants should have completed at least 2 semesters of law school. Ideal candidates will have taken courses in energy law or have a background in energy law and policy, although this is not required. Externs must have strong research and writing skills and a demonstrated interest in energy law and policy.

For more information and instructions for applying for an externship, see our job posting on Lewis & Clark Law School’s Career and Professional Development Center website.
