Lewis & Clark Law School to Host Justice Anthony Kennedy and Justice Sandra Day O’Connor at Federal Judicial Center Conference

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy and retired Justice Sandra Day O’Connor are among the keynote speakers scheduled at the 40th anniversary celebration of the Federal Judicial Center, hosted by Lewis & Clark Law School in September. This landmark conference will feature an unparalleled array of jurists and scholars.

Victory at Animal Law Competition

On Saturday, April 5, two Lewis & Clark law students claimed victories at the 2008 National Animal Advocacy Legislative Lobbying and Drafting Competition at the George Washington University School of Law. Paula Walker, 3L, took first place in the competition, and Kristen Monsell, 2L, was awarded Best Bill and Best Fact Sheet. Clinical Professor Jami Pannell coached both students in preparation for the competition.

Indian Law Conference Featured in Indian Country Today

Lewis & Clark’s Indian law program recently hosted a groundbreaking event that brought together 11 scholars from around the country, most of whom are tribal citizens and experienced in economic development. Before the event Professor Robert Miller said, “This will be the most dynamic and intriguing academic conference ever held on Indian economic development.” Read more in Indian Country Today.

Commencement 2008

Commencement for the law school will be held at Griswold Stadium at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2008. A short reception for graduates and guests will be held on the Law School Campus immediately following commencement. Graduates must be at Pamplin Sports Center at 9:30 a.m. This year’s speaker will be Congressman John Lewis of Georgia. A reception at the law school follows commencement.

Summer School 2008

Take advantage of a unique opportunity to study environmental law, Indian law, animal law, and core law courses in one of America’s most beautiful cities. Most summer law courses are offered over five weeks with several two-week intensives.
