Sobre el Muro opening reception
Date: August 3 2012 6:00pm - 8:00pm Location: Hoffman Gallery - Hoffman Gallery
The Ronna and Eric Hoffman Gallery hosts a one-week special exhibition of collaborative works created by Lewis & Clark students and peers at the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana, Cuba.
In March 2012, 11 Lewis & Clark undergraduates from eight different majors and all four class years traveled to Havana in order to establish a cultural exchange with Cuban artists and art students. The Alternative Spring Break project was funded by the Center for Career and Community Engagement, the Associated Students of Lewis & Clark, and the Dean of Students office. Associate Professor of History Elliott Young advised the program.
Works in the exhibit were conceived in March and developed over subsequent months. The international collaboration expresses consensus in spite of differences in culture and perspective.
The exhibition kicks off with an opening reception Friday, August 3, at 6 p.m. It will remain open through Friday, August 10, 12-4 p.m.
