Part of this year’s Spring Bookwarming Series, come on in to the CAS Bookstore for a dialogue with Adjunct Professor of Humanities Megan Pugh about her newest book, Dancing America: From the Cakewalk to the Moonwalk (Yale UP). “An exuberant history of American dance, told through the lives of virtuoso performers who have defined the art.” Professor Pugh’s research traces a web of tangled cultures and the “nebulous, contested American ideal” of freedom. It “demonstrates the centrality of dance in American life, art, and identity, taking us to watershed moments when the nation worked out a sense of itself through public movement” (www.meganpugh.com). Her talk is sure to engage an interdisciplinary crowd!
