Sobel is an award-winning writer and former New York Times science reporter who has contributed articles to Audubon, Discover, Life and The New Yorker. She has been a contributing editor to Harvard Magazine, writing about scientific research and the history of science. She is the author of several acclaimed books, including Galileo’s Daughter and Longitude.
Her presentation at the Newmark Theater is the kick off event for a two-day symposium, Unveiling the World in 1800, sponsored by Lewis & Clark College.
