Mellon grant to enrich humanities offerings

Lewis & Clark College of Arts & Sciences has received a four-year grant of $800,000 from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support initiatives in the humanities.

Lewis & Clark College of Arts & Sciences has received a four-year grant of $800,000 from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support curricular and scholarly initiatives in the humanities and humanistic social sciences. The grant is designed to suport mid-career faculty members by providing enhanced support for research and sabbaticals, funds for student-faculty research collaborations and visiting lecturer fellowships, and a seminar series to foster interdisciplinary, team-based teaching and research and courses.

In 2008 Lewis & Clark received a Mellon Foundation grant for $450,000 to support a post-doctoral fellows program. This makes for a total of $1,250,000 in Mellon Foundation support for the humanities and humanistic social sciences.
