100 Projects for Peace initiative sponsored by the family of Katheryn Wasserman Davis. This is the first time that Lewis & Clark College students have won two of the awards in the national competition.

Called a “true Renaissance man,” Ethan Allred ’12 is the winner of the 2012
Rena J. Ratte Award, the undergraduate college’s highest academic honor. The award recognizes excellence in scholastic, intellectual, and creative achievements, and is presented during the undergraduate Honors Convocation ceremony preceding commencement in May.

honored in Canada, Ward’s home country.

Kenny Renner-Singer, M.A.T. ‘00,
has been named Washington State Middle Level Principal of the Year. He is the principal at Icicle River Middle and Beaver Valley Elementary schools in Leavenworth.

Tadhg Fendt ’14 has become the first student from Lewis & Clark’s Russian Program to receive a
Boren Scholarship. The award will support Fendt’s language study abroad.

Students have named Iva Stavrov, associate professor of mathematical sciences, Teacher of the Year. Stavrov, who specializes in algebraic topology and differential geometry, joined Lewis & Clark in 2004.

A recent Lewis & Clark graduate received the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) for Young Professionals fellowship. Through the cultural exchange program, Chris MacLeod ’11 will spend a full year working and studying in Germany.

President Glassner has announced the winners of the President’s Scholarship for Student Engagement. The recipients are Kerri Finnegan ’14, an environmental studies major, and Tyler Janzen ’14, who is majoring in international affairs.

Monica Wells of American Family Insurance received the fourth annual Outstanding Pro Bono Attorney of the Year award. What’s really unique about Monica is that her practice focuses on products liability litigation. But she heard about the SBLC, and felt compelled to volunteer. Many of the clients she met with only needed a few hours of help—and rather than breathing a sigh of relief, thinking she did her duty, she signed up for more of our pro bono projects, agreeing to meet with more small businesses.
