Academic Credit

Participation in either (or both!) of these classes can fulfill one of your activity credits required for graduation. Fees may apply. In addition to trip attendance, you must register for the credit through the normal process before the end of add-drop. Credit cannot be issued retroactively.

 

PE/A 101. OUTDOOR ADVENTURES* (1 credit)

This class provides an excellent way for students to learn necessary skills and participate in an array of physical activities geared for the student who enjoys the great outdoors. To attain credit, the student signs up for and participates in a Fall Break or Spring Break trip. Trip fees apply.

College Outdoors trips are filled on a first come/first serve basis, and registration for the credit and the trip of your choice are separate processes.  Instructor permission required to register, contact Joe Yuska at yuska@lclark.edu

 

PE/A 142. WILDERNESS LEADERSHIP (1 credit, SPRING term only)

This class is for students interested in pursuing leadership positions with College Outdoors at L&C, and will focus on the “10+1 Skills” of the College Outdoors Leadership Trail. Classroom and outdoor sessions develop and test technical and interpersonal skills which are valuable for leadership positions with College Outdoors at LC, other positions in the outdoor industry, and for personal adventures. This class focuses on outdoors skills, leadership, followership and decision making in a wilderness environment. The class meets weekly on Wednesdays from 3:15-5:15pm, and includes two, one-day, field trips. Course fee varies by semester.
