Tryon Creek State park is just a short walk from campus, and offers over 8 miles hiking trails through a forest of Western Redcedar, Douglas Fir, and Big Leaf Maple trees cloaked in moss. The lush understory includes 9 different species of Ferns, delicate Trillium flowers, and even native Salmonberries and Huckleberries.

We’ll depart directly from campus to hike for about 2 hours, depending on the pace and preferences of the group, and we’ll explore some of the best trails and hidden highlights of the park. If you’re not familiar with all the trails and secret spots in Tryon, sign up for this trip and learn your way around the trail system! The nature center and all facilities are closed, so be sure to bring what you’ll need.

No Experience Necessary! This will be a fun and safe way to get off campus with your “pod,” or sign up on your own to meet new people!

Covid-19 Mitigation:

  • Consider signing up with your “pod” mates
  • Masks and 6ft distancing required
  • Groups capped at 10 people (including leaders)

Meeting Place:
We’ll depart from in front of the Agnes Flanagan Chapel, on the side that faces towards Templeton. Look for the “College Outdoors” sign.
