February 5On January 1, Cassie Franklin BA ’93 was sworn in as mayor of Everett, Washington, a city of 108,000 residents about 25 minutes north of Seattle. Franklin is the first female mayor to be elected in the city’s 124-year history.

Dave Schleef BA ’93 recently left the craft brewing industry after 25 years and founded 503 Distilling, a craft distillery located in Oregon City. The business specializes in craft cocktails packaged in 12 oz. cans, which are sold in Oregon, Washington, and California. 503 Distilling opened its tasting room and cocktail lounge, which are attached to the distillery, in February 2019.
