Lewis & Clark’s Graduate School of Education and Counseling recently inaugurated the Speaker Series in Ethics and Social Justice, funded by Carol Witherell, professor emerita of education, and her mother, Elaine Smith.

This year, the featured speaker was Nel Noddings (left), professor emerita at Stanford University. Noddings gave a public lecture on January 25, followed by workshops the next day for faculty, students, and alumni. Workshop participants discussed how the ethics of care could be infused into their classrooms and clinics.

Noddings returns to campus in June as the featured speaker for the graduate school’s commencement ceremony.
